Damascus, SANA- Minister of Information, Dr. Hamza al-Mustafa, said that the Syrian government has shown great flexibility in finding political solutions in Sweida province, However, the result has been more provocations, broken promises, and even attempts by some to create a status-quo that opposes the State, which has tried with all its capacity to avoid a military solution.
“The Syrian State was not in a position of weakness to resolve Sweida issue, which had been possible in recent months. However, it asked the parties to agree on a joint formula, but some relied on external factors,” the Minister told Syrian al-Ikhbarya in an interview.
He added that the State has the right to control its territory, and what happened was a natural intervention resulting from chaos and instability.
The Minister said that citizens of Sweida are convinced that agreement with the Syrian government aims to reposition the governorate within the Syrian homeland, pointing out that Sweida has a distinguished history, and its people are a fundamental pillar of the Syrian state, which is inclusive of all its spectrums, and they are part of this homeland.
He added that there is a plan to divide Syria into “cantons” and divide the Syrian people morally and culturally. Therefore, Syrian citizenship is essential within the Syrian homeland, for which so much has been paid over decades.
“The Israeli bombing of Damascus is not a victory, but rather an escape from the internal pressures facing the Israeli occupation government,” the Minister said, adding that chaos and kidnappings that have been occurring for years have contributed to creating tension and instability.
