Damascus, SANA- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Marwan al-Halabi discussed on Wednesday with a delegation from Passion International University – USA in Syria and the Gulf, headed by Dr. Taysir Al-Masri, the university rector, areas of cooperation in blended and virtual education, digital transformation, and the possibility of opening a branch of the university in Syria.
During the meeting held at the ministry in Damascus, al-Halabi pointed out the government’s orientation towards supporting private universities, competing in educational outcomes and providing the necessary facilities to establish universities with specific specializations, developing modern curricula and monitoring the quality of education.
Al-Halabi pointed out that there are standards for private education being implemented, noting the importance of linking educational outcomes and research to the labor market, focusing on technical education, the digital transformation that has become a necessity, and academic freedom, which is being relied upon in the next phase.
For his part, al-Masry expressed the university’s readiness to cooperate in all fields and support the ministry and Syrian universities in technical and technological aspects, pointing out the university’s desire to establish a branch in Syria with specific specializations that suit the needs of the Syrian environment, such as agricultural economics, nuclear physics, media, computers and information, education, social and psychological sciences, strategic management, pharmaceutical chemistry, law and political science, information technology and communication.
