Damascus, SANA- With the aim of ensuring the safety of tourists and tourist areas and controlling violations, the first batch of the Tourist Police Department graduated from the Police College in Damascus, within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministries of Tourism and Interior.
During the graduation ceremony, Tourism Minister Mazen al-Salhani affirmed the ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop and revitalize Syria’s tourism sector. He described the establishment of the Tourism Police as a strategic move to enhance visitor security and provide high-quality services.
Minister al-Salhani highlighted that the success of this initiative relies heavily on local community support, envisioning Syria as a leading tourism destination. He stated, “The cooperation between government agencies and local communities is the key to achieving this goal.”
The ceremony was attended by Faraj Qashqoush, Deputy Minister of Tourism for Hotel Affairs and Quality, Major General Ahmad Latouf, Deputy Minister of Interior for Police Affairs, and Brigadier General Fadi al-Hamish, Director of the Traffic Department.
