Al-Shaibani to the Arab Summit :Lifting sanctions is not the end, but rather the beginning of a path that we hope will be paved with real cooperation

Baghdad, SANA- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mr. Asaad al-Shaibani, in Syria’s speech at the Arab Summit in Baghdad: I have the honor to convey to you the greetings of Mr.President Ahmad al-Sharaa and the greetings of the Syrian people who adhere to their Arabism.

“We all followed positively US President Donald Trump’s announcement to lift the sanctions imposed on our country, a decision we see as an important step on the path to national recovery and reconstruction and reflect a sincere Arab diplomatic effort that has yielded tangible results”, Minister Al-Shaibani said.

The Minister added: We can only extend our special thanks and gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkey for their effective mediation, which came at a pivotal historical moment, adding: We also express our deep gratitude to the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. All of them, and to every Arab country that stood by Syria at this delicate stage.

The Minister pointed out: Lifting the sanctions is not the end, but rather the beginning of a path that we hope will be paved with real cooperation and the integration of Arab efforts to achieve development, preserve Arab national security, and enhance stability in our region.

“our meeting today on the beloved land of Baghdad, the capital of authentic Arabism, is a historic opportunity to renew the covenant between us as Arab countries, No matter how far circumstances keep us apart, or how policies divide us, what unites us is much greater than what divides us” al-Shaibani said, pointing out that the Syrian Arab Republic, the government and the people, Its vision is based on its Arab depth, from a firm belief that our Arab unity is neither a political luxury nor a tactical option, but rather a strategic necessity A fundamental pillar in building a secure, stable and prosperous future for all our peoples.

Minister Al-Shaibani pointed out that Syria, which paid a heavy price as a result of the policies of the former Assad regime, and in resisting fragmentation projects, is today returning to its Arab embrace, carrying the hopes and aspirations of its people, to build a new future that does not exclude anyone, nor is it hostile to anyone, but rather opens its doors to every sincere voice, and for every hand extended with goodness.

Al-Shaibani said: “We have begun serious steps toward national recovery, based on a firm belief that Syria is for all Syrians, with no place for marginalization or exclusion. For the first time in history, Syria has embarked on a nascent experience of inclusive national dialogue that embraces diversity, guarantees representation, and preserves dignity.”

We are now putting the final touches to work toward a national parliament representing the entire Syrian spectrum, and toward a permanent constitution that enshrines rights, safeguards sovereignty, and establishes a state of law, not a state of chaos.

Any project aimed at weakening the Syrian state, or dividing it under any pretext, is a project that is categorically condemned and rejected by the Syrian state and people with all its components.

Syria does not accept guardianship, nor does it accept being an arena for other people’s conflicts.

We want balanced relations based on mutual respect, we bear love for every Arab country, and we value every Arab step that contributed to breaking isolation and lifting sanctions, a strong and stable Syria is the pillar of Arab security.

The minister concluded by saying that Syria is paying a heavy price as a result of external interventions and internal conflicts, as it faces parties that are not concerned with the security of the Syrians or their future, but rather are working to exploit the Syrian tragedy to serve their own projects.
