Damascus, SANA-The General Authority of the Kidney Surgical Hospital at the Ibn al-Nafis Medical Complex in Damascus received medical aid provided by MedGlobal humanitarian medical organization.
The hospital’s medical director, Dr. Talal al-Yousfi, stated in a press release to SANA that the aid suffices for 250 dialysis sessions and includes acids and bicarbonates, which are supplements for dialysis sessions, as well as sterilization materials for dialysis devices.
Dr. al-Yousfi emphasized the importance of organizations and associations prioritizing kidney dialysis patients, as they cannot sustain their lives without undergoing dialysis sessions. He added that these sessions cannot be replaced by kidney transplants due to the stringent conditions necessary for successful procedures.
Meanwhile, Dr. Anas Barbour, the director of MedGlobal’s office in Syria, explained that this aid is part of the organization’s initiative to support the medical sector in Syria in collaboration with the Syrian Ministry of Health. The first phase included the provision of 4,500 dialysis sessions for the Kidney Surgical Hospital in Damascus, and on Monday, an additional 250 sessions are being delivered to meet increasing needs.
Dr. Barbour highlighted the daily challenges faced by kidney patients in Syria in accessing dialysis sessions, due to high demand on treatment centers and resource shortages. He stressed that ongoing support for these services is vital to saving lives and ensuring the continuity of healthcare.
Dr. Barbour also reaffirmed MedGlobal’s commitment to providing essential medical needs and strengthening the capacity of the local healthcare system, ensuring effective and sustainable responses to such health crises.
