President Erdogan asserts confidence in Syrian people’s ability to revive their country once again

Ankara, SANA- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has affirmed that there is no doubt in the ability of the resilient Syrian people, who have inspired the region and the oppressed with their determination to resist, to revive their country once again.

In several tweets on his “X” platform account on Wednesday, President Erdogan said: “I once again extend my congratulations to my dear brother President Ahmad al-Sharaa and to the entire Syrian people for their struggle and achievement of victory.”

He elaborated “A new page has been opened not only in Syria but in our entire region after 13 years of blood and tears. We in Turkey will continue to provide the necessary support to our Syrian brothers in this new phase, just as we did not abandon them in their difficult and desperate times.”

President Erdogan added: “”At this critical stage, Turkey attaches great importance to building a system for the country with a comprehensive approach that embraces everyone and reflects the will of the Syrians,”

He noted that, in addition to humanitarian aid, Turkey is also ready to provide the necessary support for the reconstruction of destroyed cities and vital infrastructure in Syria, considering that the faster economic development proceeds, the more momentum the voluntary return of Syrians will gain.

President Erdogan stressed that the series of international sanctions imposed on Syria constitute an obstacle to the country’s economic and infrastructural recovery.

He pointed out that Turkey’s efforts to lift the sanctions have resulted in a partial easing of the sanctions imposed on the ousted regime, and these efforts will continue until the results are fully achieved.

President Erdogan stated:”From the very first day, we have proven with concrete steps and without hesitation that we stand by the Syrian people. After reopening our embassy in Damascus, we opened our consulate general in Aleppo, and Turkish Airlines has resumed its flights to Damascus. In addition, we have done our best at the diplomatic level during the first two months of the new administration, in order to make its voice and sincere intentions heard in the region and internationally.”

President Erdogan noted that officials in the new administration in Syria have made visits to Turkey, and many Turkish ministers and bureaucrats have made visits to Damascus, and continue to do so, stressing that they are working to develop relations between the two countries in a multidimensional way and in all fields, starting from trade to civil aviation, and from energy to health and education.

President Erdogan clarified that Turkey’s long-standing policy towards neighboring Syria has been based on preserving its territorial integrity and sovereignty, explaining that the meeting he held with Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, was based on this principle.

President Erdogan said: “I was pleased to see that we are in complete agreement on almost all issues. My dear brother and I evaluated the joint steps that can be taken to establish security and economic stability in Syria. We also discussed in particular the steps that should be taken against the separatist terrorist organization occupying northeastern Syria and its backers.”

President Erdogan added: “I confirmed to him that we are ready to provide the necessary support to Syria in combating the ISIS and PKK organizations and all forms of terrorism,” reaffirming his country’s commitment to stand by the Syrians in controlling the camps in northeastern Syria.

President Erdogan continued: “I would like to once again express our satisfaction for the strong commitment my brother Ahmad al-Sharaa has shown in the fight against terrorism. I am confident that by acting within the scope of our solidarity, we will be able to ensure an atmosphere of peace and security, free from terrorism, in our shared geographical areas.”
