Damascus, SANA- Interior Ministry Spokesman Noureddine al-Baba said that state intervention and law imposition in Sweida province has become both a necessity and a public demand, this comes in response to the security chaos that the province has experienced over the past seven months. He emphasized the urgent need to decisively confront the lawless groups that incite discord and spread fear among citizens.
In a statement to al-Ikhbariyah Channel, al-Baba said: “The recent clashes that took place in Sweida are deeply regrettable, resulting in dozens of casualties and injuries. He emphasized that the intervention of the Syrian state through its Security forces has become unavoidable in order to restore security to the province.
He added: “Forces from the Ministries of Interior and Defense entered Sweida in the early morning hours and have begun deploying there.”
Despite clashes with outlaws, our forces are doing their best to prevent any losses or casualties among civilians used by armed groups as a human shield. However, the situation in the province is heading toward a decisive victory in favor of the Syrian state, within the vision set by the presidency, to impose the state’s authority and the law rule on transgressors,” al-Baba affirmed.
