Idleb Free Zone project implementation begins

Idleb, SANA-The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports has begun the first steps of implementing the Idleb Free Zone Project, located in the eastern part of the province at the crossroads of international roads.

The project includes an industrial and commercial zone and a modern dry port, with an area exceeding 1,115,000 square meters.

It aims to achieve a number of development and economic objectives, most notably stimulating commercial and industrial activity in the province, creating extensive job opportunities for Idleb residents, and attracting new and promising industries.

The project also aims to attract foreign capital and investments that will contribute to the national economy’s foreign exchange, especially with the arrival of dozens of foreign investors in the province to pursue available investment opportunities.

The planned dry port represents one of the main pillars of this project, as it will provide traders, industrialists, and farmers in Idleb with the ability to directly export their agricultural and industrial products to foreign markets.

It will also allow them to import raw materials and goods from around the world without having to travel to seaports, saving time and costs and enhancing the competitiveness of national products in regional and international markets.

The project complements the Authority’s plans to develop the commercial and logistics transport system by boosting the role of domestic and international transport companies. It will also open new horizons for the tourism sector in the governorate, with the expected entry of foreign investors and businessmen who will provide the local market with their expertise and capital.

Head of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, Mr. Qutaiba Badawi, and Idleb governor, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman, toured the area where the project is planned to be located and discussed the overall vision and the work plan for its implementation.

Badawi directed the need to accelerate the pace of work to complete the administrative, technical, and logistical procedures necessary to begin implementing the project according to the highest specifications and standards.

He stressed that this project enjoys the full support of the leadership, given its economic and developmental impact on the people of Idleb governorate.

Badawi emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination with all relevant authorities to ensure the project’s success and achieve its goals of improving living conditions and supporting development and stability in the governorate.

“This project is one of the most important strategic projects, through which we aspire to create a stimulating investment environment, stimulate economic activity, and encourage investment in the region, in addition to providing a large number of job opportunities for our people.” Idleb governor Mohammed Abdul Rahman said.

Abdul Rahman affirmed the governorate’s full commitment to supporting all initiatives and projects that contribute to strengthening economic stability and opening new horizons for development in Idleb governorate.

It was also agreed to initiate procedures to establish a second free zone dedicated to car showrooms and trade, with the aim of regulating and expanding this vital sector, serving the interests of citizens and traders alike.
