Damascus Countryside, SANA-The Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman Tarkou, and the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Mr. Amer al-Sheikh, on Sunday inaugurated “Hassan Yousef, Al-Akhdar al-Arabi, al-Sharif al-Idrisi, Women’s Arts, and Commercial Arts” schools in al-Zabadani area of Damascus Countryside, following their rehabilitation and restoration.
The rehabilitation and restoration work on these schools, which accommodate 1930 male and female students, included painting, curtains, desks, boards, and bathrooms, in addition to supplying the schools with solar energy and drinking water tanks.
During a tour of these schools, the Minister of Education stated that the ministry has a plan to rehabilitate schools and teachers, which will positively impact the educational process in Syria. He noted that the ministry is working on the restoration of 400 schools, 100 of which have been completed so far, in addition to holding training courses according to a specific plan for the rehabilitation of teachers.
For his part, the Governor of Damascus Countryside highlighted the importance of education in building individuals, stressing the significance of cooperation with organizations to rehabilitate schools in the governorate. He further stated that the city of al-Zabadani was able to achieve in four months what the ousted regime did not achieve in seven years.
In turn, Head of Damascus Countryside Education Directorate, Mr. Fadi Nizhat, highlighted the harmony and integration between state institutions and the local community, where everyone is working hand in hand to build the country.
At the end of the tour, Minister Tarkou and Governor al-Sheikh were briefed on the condition of a number of schools completely destroyed in al-Zabadani due to the bombing by the deposed regime.
