Al-Shaibani: President al-Sharaa’s visit to Bahrain is turning point and bright page in bilateral relations

Manama, SANA-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani affirmed that the visit of Syrian Arab Republic President Ahmad Al-Sharaa to the Kingdom of Bahrain and his meeting with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is a pivotal moment in which the two countries together write a bright new page in the history of bilateral relations, built on mutual trust, deep respect, and aspiration for a promising future that unites them within a framework of cooperation and integration.

“Since the first days of Syria’s liberation, the Kingdom of Bahrain has not hesitated to extend a helping hand to our people. It was among the first countries to welcome and send official letters, particularly His Majesty the King’s letter to President Sharaa.” During a joint press conference with Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in Manama today, as reported by the Bahrain News Agency, Al Shaibani said.

Al-Shaibani pointed out that what unites Bahrain and Syria transcends politics and interests, embracing the bonds of sincere brotherhood, authentic Arabism, and a shared vision for an Arab future characterized by independence and sustainable development.

The Foreign Minister added that historic experience has proven that Arab cooperation is the only way to confront challenges and achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples.

The Minister noted that Syria looks to the future with hope and is fully aware of the importance of strengthening regional partnerships, foremost among which are its strong relations with Bahrain.

Al-Shaibani affirmed Syria’s commitment to opening wider doors for economic and investment cooperation that meets shared interests and aspirations for greater prosperity and development, adding that Bahrain is an active partner at this stage, particularly during the reconstruction phase, and a major contributor to efforts to revive the Syrian economy.

He expressed Syria’s welcome to any initiative from Bahrain that serves development and stability. He explained that, in light of the deep-rooted brotherhood that binds the two brotherly peoples, Syria today affirms its commitment to deepening these ties and making them more solid and cohesive by expanding channels of communication between official institutions in both countries, encouraging partnerships between the private and public sectors, and enhancing cultural and scientific exchange.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Syria’s territorial and people unity, and its categorical rejection of any foreign intervention seeking to fragment or disintegrate it. He reiterated his call to lift the economic sanctions imposed on it, which have directly impacted the lives of citizens and hampered reconstruction and recovery efforts. He explained that lifting these sanctions is not merely a humanitarian or economic demand, but rather an urgent regional necessity.

Al-Shaibani expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the King of Bahrain, His Highness the Crown Prince, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the government and people of Bahrain for the generous, fraternal reception.

He wished the Kingdom continued glory and prosperity, and relations between the two brotherly countries continued to grow and become stronger.

For his part, the Bahraini Foreign Minister affirmed the depth of the historical, fraternal relations that bind the two countries and peoples, noting that the discussions between the two sides addressed the paths of bilateral cooperation and the possibilities for strengthening and developing it in various fields, in a way that contributes to the development of mutual interests and benefits the two brotherly peoples.

Al Zayani said the two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria, the efforts made by the Syrian government to safeguard security and stability, preserve national unity and the cohesion of Syrian society with all its components, meet the Syrian people’s demands for a free and dignified life, and the efforts it is making to communicate with the international community to obtain political, economic, and development support at this critical stage in the history of Syria.

He said that King Hamad affirmed to President Sharaa the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to Syria’s stability, sovereignty, and independence, support for the unity and integrity of Syrian territory, backing of its efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability, fulfillment of the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people, restoration of Syria’s role at the regional and international levels, and its support for its efforts to lift economic sanctions.

“His Majesty the King commended the constructive steps taken by the new Syrian leadership to consolidate the unity of the Syrian people, and the outcomes of the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, which represent an important approach to confronting the complex challenges facing Syria, as well as the efforts it is making to ensure security and stability in the region.”Al Zayani concluded.
