President al-Sharaa’s visit to Riyadh receives extensive Saudi media attention

Damascus,SANA- The visit of the President of Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, to Riyadh has received widespread media attention, headlining most Saudi newspapers.

Articles and editorials emphasized the importance of this visit and the Saudi desire to support Syria, its stability, and development.

Al-Riyadh Newspaper in its editorial Monday, under the title “Stable Syria,” stated: “Since the first day of the Syrian revolution in 2011, the Kingdom has adhered to firm principles, which were represented in its support for the right of the Syrian people to determine their own destiny, and to ensure the security and unity of Syrian territory.”

It added”The Kingdom is also considered one of the first countries to officially recognize the success of the Syrian revolution, as it took the initiative to send its official delegations to strengthen the position of the Syrian government, support the stability of Syria, and receive official delegations, expressing official recognition of the new government in the Syrian state.”

The newspaper elaborated: “The importance of this visit comes from the coordination on files and topics that serve the common interests of the two brotherly countries, especially in important issues such as: combating terrorism and extremism, strengthening the state of security, peace, and regional and international stability, and other files and topics that serve Arab national security,”.

It clarified that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made efforts and adopted historical positions to return Syria to the Arab fold, to emphasize the unity of its territory and independence, and to reject foreign interference in its affairs.

Al-Jazirah newspaper headlined its front page “A Saudi-Syrian Embrace in Riyadh,” while the Saudi writer Khaled bin Hamad Al-Malik said in an article entitled “Syria on the Verge of Glory”: “No people have suffered as much as the brotherly Syrian people from tragedies, oppression, injustice, and deprivation, from successive military coups to the rule of Hafez al-Assad and his son Bashar, which made the Syrian citizen under police regimes that stripped him of his rights and killed his ambition to build a civilized state after years of colonialism.”

The writer added: “Bashar al-Assad left a legacy burdened with all the tragedies of Syria. The challenges are great and painful, and it is difficult to eliminate them in a short period of time, but the signs, indicators, and policies pursued by the new administration, starting with opening the way for distinguished relations with the brotherly Arab countries, then dissolving all blocs, parties, and military organizations and joining them to the new national army, and then focusing on building Syria, away from slogans, exaggerations, and silencing mouths, and that there is no exception to any sect, political, tribal or regional affiliation in their participation in the management of the state’s affairs, according to a new constitution, a new army, and institutions whose management depends on competence and seriousness in work, give hope for the better.”

The writer stressed that “the sun is shining on Syria again, to illuminate what was opaque and dark for many years under a rule marked by bloodshed in its dealings with the people, and it has no concern or interest other than to continue its rule, enjoying a comfortable life, while the people suffer from poverty, hunger, deprivation and tyranny.”

For its part, Al Madina newspaper indicated that this visit expresses the mutual desire between Syria and Saudi Arabia to strengthen relations and consolidate ties in light of the intensive Saudi efforts to support Syria in various fields and regional and international forums.

Meanwhile, Okaz newspaper considered that the visit of President al-Sharaa at this sensitive stage, with its great challenges and difficulties, comes within the framework of looking forward to the Kingdom’s support for Syria and its people and benefiting from its international standing and weight in overcoming challenges.

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, in turn, spoke about Saudi support for Syria, and quoted a Saudi official as saying: “Saudi Arabia stood on firm principles, which were represented in the importance of ensuring the security of Syria, the unity and integrity of its lands away from foreign interference and external influences, believing that Syria is for the Syrians, and they are the most entitled to manage their affairs and determine their destiny,”

The newspaper stressed the Saudi political and economic support, and serious work to help Syria lift sanctions, develop economic infrastructure, and strive for more development at various levels.
